Sugar Skull Pottery

Happy Thursday!!

This week has been so busy!! Work has been going well. I have a commission I am working on! I am super excited to see the commission once it has been printed. I only wish that people would understand that art takes a lot of time to do art work. I have been slightly frustrated with that. A lot of people have come to me asking for pieces to be done and I have had to turn them down. Usually they end up frustrated that I don’t have the time do the commission.

So for about the last year I have been working on this sugar skull. It has been my take the dog to the groomer piece. Sometimes the appointments only take 30 minutes and sometimes they take an hour or so. Since I never know how long the appointment is going to go sometimes I would just pick a color and only do the parts for that color. I decided this last time to do all of the shapes in the black outline. I tried it without a black outline on the cutouts and I felt like it looked weird. I also did try just the outlines without coloring in the cutouts and also hated it. So I painted the insides of the cut outs roughly black. I am pretty happy with how it turned out so far! I can’t wait to see how it looks after it is fired.

I am hoping that I can finish the line art for my Anne Boleyn piece next week. I really want to put as much detail and work into the background as I can. I hope that you all enjoy watching me work on the piece.

Until next time, safe travels and good luck on all of your endeavors,
-The Sonne Faun
