Take a number

So recently my husband and I noticed that our house numbers aren’t very visible… Okay …. Moment of truth we realized that the house numbers on our street aren’t in order…. Meaning we are missing some… somehow… somewhere… not really sure on that one… I blame the state we live in…. And in noticing that we figured we should probably make our numbers stand out more… I mean like only 3 of our friends… 5 of our friends and some delivery people…. 8 of our friends, family, and delivery people… too many people… Have missed our house.

So I was browsing the interwebs for an idea of what we could do. I will be honest a lot of the ideas just don’t work for our house or wouldn’t really make the numbers always visible from the street. After much looking I found this how to which I had to dig through bread recipes and dog photos in my husbands and my google hangout chat… I swear we do real work during the day. I mean what do other couples talk about when they are at work…. Not food and pets? Oh okay…..

I digress.. This was actually really fun to do. We did change it up a bit. Due to the weather in our state being complete 4 seasons and equipped with possible hurricanes and blizzards, my husband decided to nail the paint sticks in place. I used 4 different stains and I have to say that the dark and red stains show up a lot better than the lighter ones. They also take faster. I actually had to wipe the dark oak off almost immediately cause it basically turned the sticks black. I also sprayed it with an acrylic sealer to help keep the color longer.

I absolutely love how this came out and a lot of people think that we spent a fortune making this or that we bought it. All in all we only spent maybe 10 USD on it. We already had the paint, stains, nails, sealer, and big piece of wood. We picked up the numbers and paint sticks at home depot.

Until next time, safe travels and good luck on all of your endeavors,
